Where I’ve Been

Wow where did January go?!  I think I owe you an explanation of where I’ve been and why I’ve not blogged for the last 3 weeks.  Yes it’s really been 3 weeks, I even had to dust off my blog and check myself – I’m really sorry!  Well after telling you all about my daily work sharing project #artdaily2015 over on Instagram and how much I was enjoying creating small pieces of work each day and sharing them with you all, it all went a bit crazy!

I fully expected January to be a fairly quiet month and I’d decided to embrace the time I was going to have and put it to good use by updating my portfolio, blogging a bit more, working on some new products for my Etsy shop but all of a sudden I got so busy that so far it’s looking like one of my busiest months and February is starting to look much the same!

Now I’m definitely not complaining and I’m loving everything minute of it but there has been a certain amount of guilt that has come with it.  Guilt that I’ve not kept to my promise/commitment of sharing a piece of work each day through #artdaily2015 and guilt at neglecting my blog, which I try really hard to keep updated regularly and for neglecting my newsletter subscribers too.  I hate not fulfilling my promises and commitments and I’ve been beating myself up about it but then something had to give and I just had to let go.  After all, this is exactly what I’ve been working so hard to create, a successful, thriving business and I feel so fortunate that everything’s going so well but there is only one of me and the worst thing I can do is burn myself out or nothing will get done!

Sooo I’ve given myself permission to not give myself such a hard time about everything and just be practical about it all. I’ve had to prioritise, big time!  It’s been important to meet all the freelance project and commission deadlines that I’ve had and to fulfill all the orders I’ve been getting on Etsy and through some brand new stockists (that’s a whole other blog post!) so that’s where I’ve been.  Not hiding away but frantically working hard to juggle all the wonderful opportunities that have been coming my way.

I have so much to share with you about what I’ve been up to – a new public art commission that I’ve been working on, freelance work (although I’m not really able to share that with you), brand new products on Etsy and the really exciting news that I now have a good handful of lovely shops that are stocking a range of my products (more about that soon!)!  But I just felt it was important to first explain where I’ve been and that I’ve not disappeared for good and to tell you that I promise I’ll be back soon with lots more fun posts and work to share so please do hang in there!

How has the start of the year been for you?  Have you had to let go of certain things or change the way you’ve been working?  I’d love to hear about what you’ve been up to so please do tell me in the comments below :-)

Glad you are busy and I know how you feel constantly conflicted between doing ‘commercial’ work and what I call ‘heart’ work (artwork)! I took on some work last week that really wasn’t ‘me’ so has caused me lots of deep thinking about what I am doing and where I am going (and what I am doing…and how I’m gonna get there!)

Sorry I’ve been so slow replying to your lovely comments Suzanne but this month has just been crazy! It’s good to know you understand what it’s like. I love that I’m busy and don’t want to wish it away but then I feel guilty for not keeping up with my blog and newsletter! I hope your project went ok and that you managed to answer some of the questions it was bringing up for you.

I was so wondering what happened to you! I did see somewhere you are doing panels for a hospital, and you store is doing so well. You work very hard Rebecca, one of the things I like about you is your dedication and I love seeing everything you do.

…and look at it this way, you helped me get on a roll! THANK YOU

Aww thanks so much Lisa, that’s lovely of you to say. I’ve been seeing your beautiful posts over on Instagram and you’re definitely on a roll! It’s great how so many of the group have really run with the #artdaily2015 project. I’m determined to get back on it once I’ve caught up! I’ve just finished the Hospital job and some other freelance work I’ve had on and so now I have a little more time. I’m so pleased it’s inspired you and hope you keep going….I need you to spur me on when I start sharing again!
