Prairie Collection with Dashwood Studio

I can’t even begin to tell you all how excited and happy I am about what I’m about to tell you…..I have my first licensed fabric collection coming out with the wonderful Dashwood Studio!  It has been a dream of mine since I began my career in Surface Pattern Design to have my own named collection of fabrics and I am so pleased it is with such a lovely, friendly, supportive (and classy I might add!) company like Dashwood Studio.  It has been one of the hardest things I’ve had to keep a secret which has felt like a very long time to me!

I feel very privilleged too as they have worked with some super talented designers such as Phyllida Coroneo,  Wendy Kendall,  Stephanie Thannhauser and more recently Bethan Janine.  Quite some line up hey?  But before I get too gushy and scare you all off, here’s a preview of the soon to be launched collection.

Introducing “Prairie”, a collection of delicate, hand drawn fabric designs inspired by vintage lace and doilies……

As soon as I began creating the collection I knew what kind of feel I wanted it to have and I built a whole story around the collection which I really hope comes across in the designs. Although heavily influenced by traditional textile techniques such as crochet and embroidery, Prairie is a contemporary mix of folky florals and loose, sketchy geometrics.  I can imagine summer dresses and pretty bags made with the fabrics and long lazy afternoons spent in warm summer meadows.  Am I getting too carried away now?!  You can tell I’m excited can’t you!

I love the bohemian feel to the collection and I think this comes across even more in the Prairie moodboard I created over on Pinterest which really helps to tell the story behind the collection.  Here’s a little peek at it but I recommend popping over there and immersing yourself in all the gorgeous imagery that has inspired the designs.

The collection was recently launched at the Craft, Hobby and Stitch  show by Dashwood Studio at the NEC last weekend and the feedback has been amazing! The fabric is due to go on sale in the Spring, so not long to wait and I’ll definitely be telling you all when the time comes so do keep checking back.  If you’d like to be among the first to know then why not sign up to my newsletter here?  By doing so you’ll also be able to keep up to date with all my latest news.

Well I’m soooo happy to be sharing this news with you and as I’m typing I’ve got a grin from ear to ear!  I hope you enjoy Prairie as much as I do and I can’t wait to see all the amazing things that will be made with the fabric!  I’ve already made my list!
