Interview with Pattern Observer!

It’s been an amazing few weeks and it just seems to keep getting better!  I was recently invited by the lovely Michelle and Chelsea from Pattern Observer to take part in an interview about my work, how I got started and my new Prairie collection for Dashwood Studio.  Of course I jumped at the chance!  I’ve followed Michelle’s Blog right from the early days and remember watching some of her first video tutorials on YouTube so it’s amazing to see how Pattern Observer has grown steadily over the years, supporting Designers like me.

Feeling like I wanted to give my business an extra push, I enrolled on one of their courses just over a year ago.  It was known as Building Your Textile Design Business and was a brilliant course aimed at Surface Pattern Designers wanting to grow their businesses in the industry.  I finished the course with a lot more confidence and focus about where I wanted to take my work and how I could go about that.  I felt I had been given a survival toolkit for the Surface Pattern Design industry! So it was really lovely to be able to catch up with the team at Pattern Observer and talk about what I’ve been up to since I completed the course.  I can’t recommend Pattern Observer enough and the courses they provide, so if you’re undecided about whether to take the plunge, I loved every minute of it!

You can read the full interview here, I hope enjoy it!

Hi Rebecca, what a great interview you did for Pattern Observer! I just finished reading it, and it was really inspiring. And your Prairie collection of fabrics is really beautiful. I love your detailed linework, and your colour palette. I’m sure it will be a great success for you! Rebecca x

Thank you very much Rebecca for your lovely comments! I’m really pleased you enjoyed the interview and that you found it inspiring. I really wanted it to speak to other designers and let them know that it’s important to just keep trying and showing you work and not to give up at the first hurdle or rejection. I’m so pleased you like my Prairie collection too. It’s a big compliment coming from you as I love your work and I’m really enjoying following your journey.X
